PRE WAR 5 INCH HEAVY DUTY







The first Heavy Duty pictured was shipped from the factory on September 7, 1937 to Erb Hardware Co., Lewiston, ID.  It was shipped with 5 inch barrel, blue finish and checkered walnut Magna grips.















The second Heavy Duty was shipped from the factory on November 9, 1934 to Meunier Gun Co., Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  It was shipped with a 5 inch barrel, nickel finish and checkered walnut service grips.














The third Heavy Duty pictured is a very special gun as it was shipped to my home town.  This gun was shipped from the factory on November 30, 1936 to Charlottesville Hardware Co., Charlottesville, Virginia.  It was shipped with 5 inch barrel, blue finish and checkered walnut Magna grips.












 

The fourth gun listed is a special order gun and was shipped from the factory on May 2, 1930 to R. M. Sevier, Special Agent, Missouri Pacific Railroad Co., Monroe, Louisana.  The gun was shipped with a 5 inch barrel equipped with a Call gold bead front sight, adjustable rear target sight, blue finish, and checkered walnut service grips.  This was one of the first adjustable sight 38/44s and the precursor to the 38/44 Outdoorsman.








The fifth gun pictured was shipped from the factory on April 23, 1940 to Police Department, Town of Stratford, Connecticut.  It was shipped with a 5 inch barrel, blue finish and checkered walnut Magna grips.  It is now configured as a 38/44 "Pinto".  The beautiful metal work was done by the master craftsman, Gene Williams.  The georgeous ivory magna grips were crafted by Don Collins. 








The next gun pictured was shipped from the factory on March 21, 1938 to Imperial Hardware Co., El Centro, California.  It is unique in that it is chambered in .45 Colt.  The gun was shipped with a 5 inch barrel, blue finish and checkered walnut Magna grips.  It now wears Roper style rosewood target grips.  Pictured used by permission of Jim Fisher. 









These two guns are consectutive serial numbered British Columbia Police guns which were shipped on 15 and 25 October 1940.  There were a total of 100 guns in the two shipments.
